Institute Presents at the Maine Health Care Association
Conference October 17-19, 2006
Samoset, ME - The Institute for Caregiver
Education offered two sessions based in resident-centered care practices
at the Maine Health Care Association’s (MHCA) Annual Conference held
October 17th through 19th.
The first presentation, “Change
begins with YOU: An Eldercare Professional’s Guide to Leading, Managing
and Sustaining Change” was held on October 18th. The second presentation, “Transforming
your Activities Program into a Model of Community Life” will took place
in two parts on October 19th. IfCE team members Allison Lantieri and Jim
Kinsey will be delivering the presentations.
According to conference organizer Karen Michaud
Maine providers are acutely interested in moving towards
a model of person-centered care in their homes. Both IfCE presentations
offered concrete tools to assist individuals in their goals to embrace the
philosophy.
The
Institute recently delivered these presentations at the AHCA Annual Conference
in Las Vegas and the Pioneer Network National Conference in Philadelphia. “Both
were extremely well-received,” says IfCE President Annette Sanders, “in
part because of the focus on person-centered care, and in part because
of the blended teaching styles, which include breakout work groups.”
