Institute Brings One-Day Culture Change Seminar to New York State
Masonic Care Community of New York to Host Event in Utica
Utica, NY—The Institute for Caregiver Education is
bringing its popular one-day Culture Change Intensive to New York State following
a
request from several long term care providers in the area. The Institute has
partnered with the Masonic Care Community of New York to present the event,
which will take place on Thursday, October 5th of this year. The one-day seminar
is focused on providing an advanced level of training for providers who already
have a basic understanding of Culture Change and the movement in the industry
to transition from a medical model of care to a social model of care.

This
series will be covering an advanced group of Culture Change topics, including:
Transforming
the Assessment/Admission Process: The Culture Change journey has given
us a great number of successes that have led to improved quality of life and
care
for elders. So why do we continue to admit elders into a medical model
and have empowered team members use a segmented chart? Learn how transforming
our
admission and assessment process truly honors the person, the family, and
the team.
Resident Mentoring: We advocate mentoring programs for our staff
to
ensure smooth transitions into the work environment, but what do we do
for
residents who live in the home? Admission into a typical nursing home
setting can be a confusing and frightening experience for a resident. This
session
illustrates the benefits and design of a Resident Mentoring program.
Servant
Leadership: One of the most fundamental building blocks of Culture
Change is the transition from a hierarchical management structure to a system
that puts
team and collaboration first. Participants in this session will learn
the basic premise of personal commitment and how to focus that commitment
to
better serve
the mission of their organization.
Leading the Generations: As leaders,
we are asked to lead a diverse group of individuals, have them merge
as an
effective
team and be successful. But how does one accomplish this when working
with people from multiple generations? This session will assist leaders in developing
a skill set that can be implemented for all the generations that live and work
together in a nursing home.
Registration for the New York Culture Change
Series is $89.00. A light breakfast and a deli buffet lunch are
included.
