Culture Change Consulting for Eldercare Organizations

The Institute for Caregiver Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming eldercare from a clinical model to a social model of care, known in the industry as “Person-Centered Care.” We work with provider organizations including non-profit, faith-based eldercare providers; for-profit multi-home companies; Veteran’s Administration homes; privately-owned nursing homes, personal care homes, assisted livings, adult day centers and home care companies.

Our team works with eldercare organizations across the country to guide them through Culture Change transformation. Whether you are an Administrator looking for information about how to bring Culture Change to your residents, a staff development director who needs Culture Change focused in-service products, or a QIO director working with the 8th Scope of Work, we have resources to meet your needs.

We offer three types of consulting approaches—a fully-integrated, multi-year contract to deliver on-site transformational change; a Community Coaching approach that offers guidance through quarterly visits with unlimited phone and e-mail support, and our newest offering, the Cafe Plan.

Cafe Plan Approach

The goal with the Cafe Plan approach is to provide clients with a high level of customization while at the same time maximizing team member labor hours and minimizing travel and related expenses. While the Institute is known for its “high touch” approach to consultation, we are well aware that the expenses related to in-person guidance are potentially cost-prohibitive to organizations that are already facing budget limitations.

We prefer to offer on-site consultation for clients within a drivable geographic area, and clients further away would likely be capped at two on-site visits per year and supplemented with off-site options including video- and teleconference.

How It Works:

An organization identifies it’s goal in seeking guidance from the Institute—perhaps a total Culture Change transformation from the ground-up or training in one area, i.e. Individualized Dining or I-Format Care Planning. Once the goal is determined, the client can then choose from an array of service options, including but not limited to:

  • On-site visit/educational presentation/audit
  • Video conference (1 to 2 hours, depending on topic)
  • Webinar (1 to 2 hours, depending on topic)
  • Teleconference (time dependent on need)
  • Phone support
  • E-mail support

Our team has successfully guided many organizations into and through the Culture Change journey. We are happy to provide references from other organizations. For a list of our clients, click here.
