SERVICES FOR PROFESSIONAL CAREGIVERS
The Institute for Caregiver Education was originally established in 1993 to service a largely-unmet need in the eldercare arena for front-line caregiver education.
The organization’s founder, Carol Tschop, felt as though nursing assistants, laundry aides, housekeepers and other caregivers were struggling for a basic need for education. Under Tschop’s guidance, the Institute began to develop materials to support these unsung caregivers educationally with resources to help them learn time management, how to communicate with difficult peers, how to take care of themselves, and basic literacy skills.
As the Institute’s reputation increased, so did the requests for educational resources across all levels of caregiving. Soon the Institute was creating materials to meet the needs of In-service Coordinators, Directors of Nursing and Administrators.
In 1997 when Culture Change burst onto the eldercare scene, much of what the Institute had been teaching, i.e. respect for elders, respect for co-workers, individualizing care and creating a home-like environment were already key messages that were embedded throughout the organization’s learning materials. The next step of collaborating with like-minded Culture Change educators such as the Pioneer Network was a natural progression.
Today the Institute is a nationally-recognized provider of education for professionals across the continuum of care. Whether you are an administrator struggling to marry Culture Change with survey or a Human Resources Director who wants to re-write job descriptions based in Person-Centered Care, the Institute has a resource for you.
The team offers several levels of education, including:
- Multi-year Culture Change consulting
- Cash and carry resources
- On-site seminar education
