Institute Welcomes Dr. Richard Wiscott as President

The Institute is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Richard Wiscott who will serve as president of the Institute.  Dr. Wiscott has twenty years experience in the field of gerontology.  Most recently he spent three years as a professor and director of the gerontology program at Shippensburg University.  He feels his background in academia will be an excellent foundation for the initiatives he envisions for the Institute.  According to Wiscott, Teaching, research and service are all skills that I learned as a professor which can be brought to this new position to help create innovative teaching strategies that can be used in our training to help both caregivers and residents.

Dr. Wiscott is excited not only about the prospect of leading the organization into the 21st century, but also with the warm welcome he has received from Institute staff. It is an indescribable feeling to have the chance to work with such stellar people.  I feel honored to work with this great team, and I plan to use all of our experiences and different points of view to move the Institute into the future.

I envision the Institute as a top-notch provider of education in the field, and as a source for the media and community to turn to for advice and opinions.  I hope also to create a research program that proves our educational products and services impact not only the caregivers but also enhance the quality of life and care received by the residents they serve.  I know, that as president with such a strong team, our future plans will be realized," said Wiscott.
